Version 20081217 available

Version 20081217 is now available on MacUpdate via the download link on the right. New in this version are:

  • 20081217 –
    • You can now change your preferences by dropping a file on iDentify named “–changePrefs.mp4”
    • Actors now also appear under the artist tag (makes for easier searching in iTunes)
    • Directors now also appear under the Album Artist tag (again, for easier searching)
    • Added Series, Season # to the album tag for tv shows (cause that’s how iTunes does it)

After posting this version I have also fixed an issue in the code with the writing of accented characters to the video files. So you can probably expect another new version this weeken with this fix, and perhaps others.

I’m looking forward to the new version. I just got a crash in AtomicParsley when using iDentify with a movie. Just before it, the log window said:
IMDB Results: Got #0075824 Cet obscur objet du désir

Also, a small feature request: would it be easy to have the iDentify window scroll the internal text view so that the latest work and results are visible? When I manually scroll down, additional output from a working process causes it to auto-scroll back up to the top (where iDentify’s very cool logo is visible). Thanks.

The new version may be out later tonight or maybe tomorrow. just got my hands on the new modules. As for the auto-scrolling, unfortunately, it is not possible. The display of the generated output is handled by Platypus, the program that turns my perl script into a nearly full fledged app. I already have the imdb specific lookups working. I’m just looking into a few other minor bugs while Im at it.

    Thanks for the quick response.

I don’t know if this is related to the accent issue, but I just got another crash from Atomic Parsley.

iDentify’s output for the movie read:
IMDB Results: Got #0074119 All the President’s Men
    Now Tagging File Number 19 / 61
    File Name: /Volumes/maulburg/movies/names/four/All the President’s Men 1976.m4v

Then crash and it went on to the next file.

Is the single quote in the name a problem?

Just Downloaded the 12 20 version, and it isn’t working on any lookups. Some of these files worked with the 12 17 version, but I accidentally deleted it. Here is the error I get with one of my files, it is the same with everything. It loads and then immediately fails. Is there a way to download the previous version?

    Thanks
